Hello everyone!

So, I'm a new player to the game and decided to check out BDO after experiencing a host of frustrations with my "home" game. However, I've run into some issues with BDO, namely, I can't figure anything out.

Now, I'm not unfamiliar with MMOs as I've be a bit of an MMO vagrant over the years and am not all too unfamiliar with eastern MMOs, but BDO definitely takes the cake for being the game that is really hard to unstand. I chose mystic for my class and have hit level 10 but there are combos apparently and I have no idea how to find out what combos lead to what, or how to use them. I guess there are hotkeys but they have limited bindings? Then there's all the various systems which are dizzying to say the least, the skill system seems really cool but I can't make heads or tails of what means what.

The thing is, the game is fun and I really like what I'm seeing but I'm clearly missing out on so much of just what my class alone offers let alone the sheer mountain of other features the game just burries you in on the onset. Anyways, all that to be said, my main question being, is there a good YouTube channel that will walk you through all of the systems in the game and how they function and what they mean? I'm definitely in need of some hand holding so to speak here as I get use to the BDO systems.

Thank you ~ Selah

Hey Selah welcome to BDO!  Yes, not knowing what to do is a common themem among new players...and that's totally understandable!  The game is quite sandbox-y in this regard...you're basically thrown into the game without much telling you what to do!  Part of the fun in this game (IMO, of course) is the journey, the "Adventure", if you will...and the things you learn about the game along the way are part and parcel of BDO's experience.  I have a few things I can suggest to get your foot in the door, and hopefully, help you on your Adventures.

1)  I see you are level 10, written a few days ago.  You are probably questing around the Balenos or Serendia regions currently.  The first thing I like to recommend to new players is to finish the main story-line first.  You'll get a ton of freebies for doing it - Inventory slots, gold bars, Naru Gear (will touch on more), and pets.  Be sure to do the main questline, as some quests there are pre-requisites to later quests.  The main storyline is indicated on your quest widget by a Black Spirit icon.  You can also press 'O' by default to bring up your quest menu.  Finish the man storyline as far as you can!  Best to finsh them up to Drieghan, since quests from Valencia - Drieghan reward you with really good enhanceable quest accessories, which you can enhance up to a DUO yellow accessorry equivalent.  These are must haves for a new account, IMO!

For Naru Gear, you can convert it to Narchillian Gear, which is a great start to your character and journey.  Gives you combat stats to grind in mid-game monster zones.  Def do this and get your Narchillian Gear, it's a huge boon and ton of guides online!  Also, leveling to 60+ will get you Capotia Accessories, which are TRI level yellow accessories (yellow is the highest grade, TRI being an amazing enhancement level for new players.  On Central Market, TRI accs for for over 2 billion silver...and that's saying a lot!)

2)  You will learn your class' combos as you go.  Also, at low levels, you do not have access to many skills.  After reaching level 56, you can unlock your Awakening or Succession stance (you choose, but can interchange between them) via questline, which unlocks even more skills O_O lol, I've been playing for about 4 years, and yeah...still pretty impressed with the depth of the class' kits.  Take it slow in combat for now, and you'll get acquainted.  Mystic does have some complex comboes to learn, but you'll learn them in time.

Some abilities can be key-binded, but as a general tip, IMO is much better to learn the key-inputs.  Abilities flow more smoothly, and in combat, fludity pays off....more silver per hour while farming mobs and more proficiency in PvP!

3)  BDO is a sandbox.  Or, at the very least (it's a controversial topic, apparently), "pretty sandbox-y".  Your opening line says it all, not knowing what to do is a common trend in sandbox MMO's.  And that's how it should be.  Learning the ropes, disovering how thing work, and experimenting with the game's different tools/system to formulate your own gameplay loop is part and parcel with the sandbox MMO genre.  In BDO end-game (around the point where you finished all your main-quests), it's primariy silver generation / income management.

Silver is king in BDO.  Silver buys you upgrades for gear, parts for your ship and mounts, materials for crafting, money to (literally) gamble with, etc.  End-game is basically earning silver....but "how" you earn sivler is up to you.  Many guides online which I will link you a couple really good online resources for BDO stuff.  You can find info on practically everything BDO on these.  Highly regarded as a staple resource for players.

As for a YouTube guide to help you get acquainted with the game, I highly recommend subscribing to ImPansy and watching his streams on Twitch.  He's really good at helping new players get aqcuainted with BDO's many intertwining systems that can get complex.

Here's a link to his "Beginner Guide: Road to 600 GS" series on YouTube: (2) BDO Beginner Guide: Road to 600 GS [Episode 1] Black Desert Online - YouTube

Alos, check him out on Twitch, really humble, chill and knowledgable guy.

4)  Join a guild!!  Many new player guilds exist who like to help new players.  A guild and having people to play alongside will help you tremendously.  My guild is currently retired from Node Wars, and have some geared veterans who stayed back, taking a break from Node Wars / siege, who do mostly PvE stuff, like grinding mobs and/lifeskilling.  More than happy to take you in.
