so we’ve prepared a guide that covers everything from A to Z for you!

Have more questions beyond the ones below?

1

Check out the Adventurer's Board (F2)

You can open the Adventurer’s Board via the F2 shortcut or by

right-clicking the ‘Edan's Adventures’ item which is a quest completion reward from

the Black Spirit (,) - Main Quest (Q) - ‘[Adventure Manual] Edan's Adventures.’

Discuss questions and answers through the Lunar Halo Inn chat group!

You can enter the Lunar Halo Inn chat group through Menu (ESC) > Community > Chat Group.

Season Servers

Q. What is the difference between the 3 starting zones?

Once you’ve created your character, you will see three starting points: the Ancient Stone Chamber, Mountain of Eternal Winter, and the Land of the Morning Light.
Choose one of the three questlines to start off your first adventure and questline.

Whatever your first choice is, you will be able to experience the other storylines later on as well!

* If you are an Adventurer playing Black Desert for the first time, it is recommended that you start at the Ancient Stone Chamber to experience the full storyline, and for faster progression.

Q. How do I exchange my Naru gear for Tuvala gear?

Enhance your Naru main weapon, sub-weapon, helmet, armor, gloves, and shoes to PEN (V) grade,
then convert them to PRI (I) grade Tuvala gear through the “Enhancement window” or the Weapon Exchange button on the top lefthand part of your Inventory window.

More about Naru Gear

Q. What should I do in a Season Server?

Once you’ve created a Season character, follow the main questline and the Season Pass to help progress your character.

Complete the Awakening/Succession questlines once you reach Lv. 56 to experience a new level of combat.

More about Season Server & Characters

Q. Does my character get deleted after the Season ends?

At the end of each Season, all Season characters become normal characters, and you will be able to equip different, normal gear.

Q. Can I delete my Season character and create a new one? Can I claim the Season Pass rewards again?

You can either delete your season character and create an entirely new one, or use “Fughar’s Timepiece” to copy your current season character’s season privileges, Combat EXP and Skill EXP to an entirely new season character.
You can find more about Fughar’s Timepiece in the [Season Character Transferal (Fughar's Timepiece)] page.

Season pass rewards can only be claimed by one character of your family per season, and you will not be able to reclaim them with an entirely new season character after having claimed them before on a deleted season character.

Q. What is a 'simplified questline’?

Adventurers who have already completed the main questline all the way up to Mediah on a previous character can opt to skip the main questline via this system. It is heavily focused on leveling your season character but also grants rewards similar to those from completing the main questline up to Mediah.

If you proceed with the simplified questline, you will not be able to do the Balenos, Serendia, Calpheon, and Mediah main questlines. Each time you reach new levels, you will be able to receive rewards. Complete the last quest ‘[Special Growth] Fughar's Memorandum - Chapter 11’ for the equivalent of completing the Mediah main questline; afterwards, you will be able to start the Valencia main questline.

Q. I used Fughar’s Timepiece but I haven't graduated.

If you wish to change your season character’s class, utilize the Fughar’s Timepiece item to convert an entirely new character into your season character, which will add your previous season character’s Combat and Skill EXP onto the new character.

However, once you’ve used a Fughar’s Timepiece on a Season character to change to a normal character, you will not be able to re-enter Season servers using that character.

Using Fughar’s Timepiece does not mean you’ve automatically graduated from the Season server.

More details about Season server graduation are provided in a later notice!

Q. I obtained some gear, but it says I’m unable to equip it. What other gear can I equip apart from Naru and Tuvala gear?

Season characters can only equip season gear labeled as “Tuvala” gear.

In addition, you can also equip gear marked by the Black Spirit icon () as well.

Kzarka Main Weapons, Dandelion Awakening Weapons, Giath's Helmet, and other Boss gear can only be equipped by normal characters. Once you graduate from Season servers, you will be able to equip such gear.

Q. How do I quickly earn more skill points?

Skill points are obtained by monster hunting.

From the ESC menu → Adventure → Monster Zone Info, you can learn more details about different monster zones.  Zones marked with the #Skill EXP hashtag offer more skill points.

Q. I’m stuck at Level 49 and can’t hit Level 50.

Complete the “[To Level 50!] Go Beyond Your Own Limits” quest via the Black Spirit!

Once you’ve completed the quest and obtained more EXP, you can reach Level 50.

Q. Where should I grind mobs?

From the ESC menu → Adventure → Monster Zone Info, you can learn more information about each monster zone’s suggested AP (Attack Power), DP (Defense Power), as well as loot items you can obtain, and more. Check out which monster zones fit best based on your character’s progress and enjoy the hunt!

General FAQ

Q. I’m new to Black Desert, and I’m not sure what to do..

If it’s your first time in Black Desert, you’ve likely created a Season Character.

From the server selection screen, enter a Season server and follow the objectives from the Season Pass to grow your character.

Q. How do Black Desert servers work?

Black Desert’s servers work in a One World System, allowing you to meet different Adventurers no matter which server you select.

Apart from certain servers which require certain conditions, you can enter all servers and switch freely between servers, meaning that you do not have to choose just one server and stick to it after creating your character.
You can find out more about server information, certain server entry conditions, and more via the ESC menu → Change Server → View Server Details.

Q. Everyone’s telling me I have to do the Magnus, but what is it? How do I start it?

In Abyss One: The Magnus, you, as the Adventurer, work with “Wuju”, the administrator of the Magnus, to investigate and resolve mysterious abyssal anomalies.

Once you’ve resolved all the anomalies (main quest), you gain the means to conveniently fast-travel around the world of Black Desert and to use the storage feature for all territories from any region.

Furthermore, once you’ve completed the Magnus, you can select a PEN (V) grade boss gear as a completion reward, which is especially helpful for new Adventurers!

You can find more details in the [Abyss One: The Magnus] guide.

Q. I know the difference between parties and platoons, but how do I join one?

Party: Up to 5 Adventurers can group up in the Party feature.

Platoon: Up to 20 Adventurers can group up in the Platoon feature.

* Use the ESC Menu → Community (F9) or, search the “Find Party/Platoon” feature in the ESC menu to join one.

Advantages to being in a Party/Platoon:

1. When proceeding with a weekly subjugation quest in the Season server, you can party up with another Adventurer to have their defeated monster numbers also count towards your weekly quest, so take advantage of this by working together!

2. Party members are displayed on the World Map screen (hotkey: M) and on the minimap at the top right corner of your screen.

What’s the difference between the Party & Platoon system?
1. In a Party, you obtain the shared EXP gained by another Adventurer in the group.
In a Platoon, however, you cannot obtain the shared EXP of another Adventurer.

2. From [Season] Rift’s Echo, you can obtain various season-exclusive items.

Form a Party with different Adventurers and tackle Rift’s Echoes to obtain more rewards. In a Platoon, however, you cannot attempt Rift’s Echoes!

Q. What is the Item Collection Gauge UI / How do I use it?

When using Item Collection Increase Scrolls obtained from Season Passes or Challenges (Y), the Item Collection Gauge UI appears.

When the Gauge UI is activated, the increased item collection effect is applied, which increases the rates for various accessories, season-exclusive items (Time-filled Black Stone, Refined Magical Black Stone, Tuvala Ore, etc.) and more depending on the increase rate applied.

Effects based on Activated Level:

Level 1 Activated: Item Drop Rate 100%, Item Drop Amount  50%

Level 2 Activated: Item Drop Rate 100%, Item Drop Amount 100%

* When Level 2 is activated, 2 seconds of charged time will be deducted for every 1 second of real time.

Q. I went to the desert, but I don’t see my location on the map. How do I know which way to go?

Adventurers should have a Sealed Compass (120min) from progressing in the Season Pass as well as from arriving in the Valencia Desert.

In the desert, your current location is not marked in the world map and the minimap, so you must proceed with caution. If you are not sure where you are, you can use the Sealed Compass to check your location in the world map (M).

You can also purchase 3 Explorer’s Compasses from the Central Market and open your Inventory (I) and arrange in a [-] position to combine them (+). Combining the parts results in an Ancient Explorer's Compass (which provides the same effects as a Sealed Compass).

Sealed Compass (120 min)

  • Upon use, your location will be visible in the Desert and Great Ocean areas on the world map and minimap for 120 minutes.

Q. My character has hypothermia/heatstroke from the desert.

In the desert, you are susceptible to illnesses based on night/day. When your character is affected by the illness debuff, your health continuously decreases, and may even result in death once health reaches 0.

But fear not! You can use items to cure hypothermia/heatstroke.

Use Purified Water for heatstroke, and Star Anise Tea for hypothermia.

You can purchase Purified Water and Star Anise Tea from the Central Market.

Q. What is Contribution/Energy?

Contribution: You can use contribution mainly to invest in nodes and to purchase houses. You can also rent a variety of items such as Hunting Matchlocks, Flutes, and other special items.

You can generally obtain Contribution EXP by completing quests.

You can refer to the [Contribution Guide] for more information.

Energy: Energy is mostly used to become friends with NPCs, to acquire knowledge entries, and for certain life skill activities such as gathering, fishing, tanning, etc.
You can increase your maximum energy limit by obtaining knowledge.

Please refer to the [Energy Guide] for more information!

Q. I’m unable to use the items that are in the greyed-out slots in my Inventory.

You can use these items by moving the items to slots that are open within your inventory.

Q. Do World Bosses appear on all servers? Can I defeat them wherever? Are there specific conditions?

There are a total of 9 World Bosses in the Black Desert world. World bosses spawn in all servers except for Olvia and Arsha servers.

World Bosses appear at specific locations, meaning anyone can join to take them down.

However, we recommend that you have enough DP to stand your ground against general attacks, and enough AP to be eligible to receive loot for defeating the bosses.

Q. I can’t obtain NPC knowledge.

If your NPC amity is negative, you will not be able to obtain knowledge from the NPC.
Amity can become negative when you move behind an NPC to steal from them, so be careful!

If your amity is in the negatives, try greeting NPCs in order to raise it back up!

Q. There are too many chat notifications. Is there a way to change the settings so I can choose what I want to see?

You can hover your mouse over the chat window and click on the settings (gear icon) on the top left to select which chats you wish to see.

Enhancement FAQ

Q. How do I increase enhancement chance? Why do I need stacks, and how do I stack them?

A higher stack means a higher chance to succeed in enhancement.
Enhancement chance increases when you fail enhancement, or when you use Advice of Valks and Valks’ Cry items.

For more information, please refer to the [Enhancement Guide]

Q. I have some Beginner Black Stones left over. Where can I use them? Can I sell them?

Beginner Black Stones (Weapon, Armor) are materials only used to enhance Naru gear.

If you’ve upgraded all of your Naru equipment to PEN (V), you can sell the Beginner Black Stones to a vendor NPC.

If you’re looking for more Beginner Black Stones, you can use Heating from the Processing window (L) to obtain more of them!

Q. I was enhancing/hunting monsters when my equipment durability dropped to 0! Where do I repair/restore gear durability? And where can I find what materials are needed to repair gear?

If you’ve been grinding away at a monster zone, you’ll reach a point where you must repair your equipment’s durability.

To find the nearest Repair NPC, click the magnifying glass on the minimap (top right) and click the “Repair” icon to set navigation to the nearest one automatically!

The maximum durability of your gear decreases when you fail enhancement attempts.

When this happens, you can take it to a Blacksmith NPC and use another of the same equipment OR Memory Fragments to restore maximum durability.

If you wish to recover the maximum durability of a Season item, we recommend that you use Tuvala Ore to do so!

Mount FAQ

Q. How do I get a horse?

You can obtain a horse from a Stable Keeper NPC through the horse market or tame a wild horse in the world of Black Desert.

Attention Adventurer! We currently have an Event, where you can get a Dream Horse just for logging in. You can find all the information about this event [here]!

If you do not own a horse, try renting a "Traveler's Horse” from the Stable Keeper!
The Traveler's Horse has useful skills that you can use while traveling.

However, please note that if 5 minutes pass after dismounting from the Traveler's Horse , it will automatically disappear.

Q. My horse died. What do I do?

If your horse has died, you can move to a nearby Stable Keeper NPC to recover it.
As long as the mount does not have any trade items in its inventory, it will be moved to the stable of the territory you are in, and you can get right back to using it.

If your mount was holding trade items before dying, it will be stored in the stable of the territory where it died.

Q. I left my horse in Velia and came to a different village. Do I have to walk back to Velia to get it?

Move to a nearby Stable Keeper and try using the “Remote Collection” feature!

This will move the horse to the stable of the territory that you are located in. However, you will have to recover its health before being able to use it again.

Quest FAQ

Q. How much of the main questline do I have to complete?

While the main questline is not required, you obtain contribution as well as many items for your adventure.
Completing the Abyss One: The Magnus questline holds many benefits, so we recommend that you complete at least the Calpheon main questline which will allow you to proceed with the Magnus questline!

Q. I’m unable to accept an NPC quest.

From the Quests (O) screen, click the quest filters at the bottom to “All” and try again to accept a quest from the NPC.

Q. When do daily/weekly quest reset?

Daily quests reset daily at 00:00 UTC, and weekly quests reset every Thursday at 00:00 UTC.

Coupon FAQ

Q. How do I redeem a coupon?

You can redeem coupons through the ESC menu → Adventurer Support → Redeem Coupon Code.

Q. I redeemed a coupon but don’t see it in my mail (B). Where is it?

Log into the Black Desert official website, and check Account → [Web Storage]
