Greetings Adventurers,
We want to inform you about the details and our actions regarding an issue where Trading EXP could be abnormally transferred by using a Trading EXP Transfer Coupon.
When we first confirmed this issue, we temporarily suspended the sale and use of the Trading EXP Transfer Coupon in all service regions on December 27, 2020.
Life Skill EXP Transfer Coupons were created as a quality-of-life convenience for our Adventurers in mind. Not only did it make it possible for you to change your “main Life Skill character” by allowing you to transfer your Life Skill EXP, but you could even move various characters’ Life Skill levels to unify them on one character as well.
However, due to an issue where Trading EXP could be abnormally transferred, we discovered it was possible to exploit the Trading EXP Transfer Coupon by understanding the mechanics behind this issue.
The exact details regarding how EXP was abnormally transferred with a Trading EXP Transfer Coupon at certain levels are as follows.
Details Regarding the Trading EXP Transfer Coupon
Differing from the level systems of other Life Skills, Trading levels are set up in a way where the required EXP needed for a level up after a certain point is fixed, and the amount of EXP gained for completing a single trade is gradually reduced instead to adjust the difficulty required to level up to the next level.
As a result, when characters A and B are at certain Trading levels, the difference between the EXP character A earns for one trade at their Trading level and the EXP character B earns for one trade at their Trading level should have been considered when the Trading EXP was transferred, but the Trading EXP Transfer Coupon did not take into account the unique structure of how Trading levels are set up and simply transferred the total EXP instead.
For a more detailed example, assume the following scenario:
Total Trading EXP of Character Receiving Transfer = A
EXP Earned from One Trade by Character Receiving Transfer = B
Total Trading EXP of Character Transferring EXP = C
EXP Earned from One Trade by Character Transferring EXP = D
Formula for the Total Trading EXP Transferred to the Receiving Character (Intended)
A+C*(D/B)
* However, if D/B > 1, then it is fixed at 1.
Formula for the Total Trading EXP Abnormally Transferred to the Receiving Character (Unintended)
A+C
* As such, the total Trading EXP of the character is transferred in its entirety to the receiving character.
These are simplified descriptions for easier understanding. The actual calculations involve more complex and complicated formulas.
First of all, any items we sell to our Adventurers should have been put through more rigorous testing before being sold, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience we may have caused you for failing to discover this issue beforehand.
After the temporary suspension of the sale and use of the Trading EXP Transfer Coupon, we performed an investigation of all Adventurers who used this item in all service regions. From this investigation, we discovered cases where the Trading EXP Transfer Coupon was used at certain levels to abnormally transfer EXP and cases where certain Adventurers repeated this action to raise their Trading EXP to a level that is difficult to reach with normal gameplay. As a result, we have taken the necessary steps against any Adventurer who we determined to have exhibited abnormal gameplay.
The exact criteria are as follows.
Restriction Criteria - Those Subject to Either Criterion 1 or 2
Criterion 1: At a Trading level where it is possible to abnormally transfer Trading EXP, the Adventurer transferred EXP at least 7 times to one character.
Criterion 2: At a Trading level where it is possible to abnormally transfer Trading EXP, the Adventurer transferred EXP at least 3 times to one character in a 24-hour period.
During the April 14 (Wed) maintenance, we adjusted the Trading levels and EXP to the proper numbers for all cases where the Trading EXP was abnormally transferred. Additionally, anyone who is subject to the restriction criteria above will not only have their Trading level/EXP adjusted but will also be restricted in accordance with the Operational Policy.
Details regarding the adjusted Trading levels/EXP and accounts that violated the Operational Policy can be found below:

After we discovered this issue, we also checked to see if any of the other Life Skill EXP Transfer Coupons were possibly affected by a similar problem, and we were able to confirm that none of the other Life Skill EXP Transfer Coupon had a similar issue.
In order to prevent such issues in the future, we will perform more thorough testing of future items and introduce additional monitoring of Adventurers’ levels for all in-game content that is available.
Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience caused.
