It's Time to Hunt!
Greetings, Adventurers!
We are back with a legendary adventurer from North America!
GM Polly here! We are bringing you an all-new interview, one which I am sure will shake a few trees!🤭We started this series in 2023, a series that is meant to honor those among us who have had significant impact on the game or have excelled in particular areas of the game, and letting them tell you all about their exploits. Our last interview with Armin discussed his Arena of Solare expertise so that we might learn a thing or two 😯. Today, we bring you the fifth episode of 2024! Today's interviewee is someone who excels in a very particular field: Lifeskilling!
Let's find out more from this heralded adventurer, Garnier, an adventurer with so much expertise on hunting it will BLOW 💥 you away!
GM Polly
Hello, I am GM Polly, and today we have a very special guest! Would you please care to introduce yourself to our readers? 😊
Garnier
Hi, my names Ben. Most people know me as Garnier, my family name is Fructis. I've been playing since 2020, I began only lifeskilling on Shai, and I've also started to play PvE as Guardian.
GM Polly
Nice to meet you Mr. Shampoo! So, you stream on Twitch, right? What kind of content do you like to stream?
Garnier
I do! I stream a little bit of everything except PvP. I enjoy life skilling the most, so I'm always happy to answer questions and help people get into life skilling if they're not wanting to run around in circles, killing monsters all the time 😛. I also do end game grinding, guild bosses, and some dungeon runs too.

GM Polly
I like your streams, personally! They are very chill and have nice music 🤭.
GM Polly
What are some of your favorite life skills? have they changed over time?
Garnier
Anything active, to be honest; gathering and hunting are my favorite. I started gathering a lot to cook and do alchemy, but once I got introduced to hunting, it's been my favorite life skill by a long shot. You gain gathering and hunting experience simultaneously, you obtain blood for alchemy, hides for processing, and other mats for furniture buffs, trade items, house decorations etc. I think hunting is the most resourceful skill in the game. It's the most profitable life skill too, and the energy use is a lot slower than gathering, so it's even better for entry-level players too.
GM Polly
Ah good point, I haven't done much hunting myself except for some sniper rifle hunting a long time ago. I suppose I don't really enjoy hunting as much because you have to use a rifle, so it takes away the combat aspect of the game from me.
Garnier
Yeah, it's not for everybody. I tried doing the sniper rifle, but the mini-game lead me to get headaches/motion sickness often, so I only did a few hours of it. Sniping is actually better compared to matchlock hunting overall.

If you could make a change to any of the life skills, what would you change?
Garnier
If I had to pick one: Trading, without question. Getting a worker empire setup is important for passive income, but there's a huge issue when it comes to turning those in for profit. Transferring hundreds of thousands, or in some cases millions of crates can take days. I know Trading is being reworked, and I truly hope it's good when it returns🤞. I've mentioned maybe having trading as land bartering, maybe with a trade wagon which would give XP for distance traveled, but we'll see what you guys have in the works.
GM Polly
Land bartering is interesting. I feel like trading is definitely one of those lifesills that must be hard to balance. You don't want to make something super easy, but incredibly lucrative, however I think one of the main problems with the last version was that the return was not worth the effort either.
GM Polly
If we held a lifeskill competition, what kind of format would you like to see?
Garnier
I think it'd be cool to have a race between teams, maybe a Rawr-Rawr hunting showdown? Something not 24-hours long, but maybe an hourly whale competition or something with different teams.

GM Polly
Ah, that's interesting. Maybe we can try cooking up something like that one day 😏.
GM Polly
If you could design a lifeskill treasure item, what would you create?
Garnier
I'd love to see a reusable energy potion or something that can be equipped in the alchemy equipment slot like combining a Khan's Heart with a Treants Tear, and it giving a good amount of lifeskill stats like life exp, mastery, and maybe even a +1 energy recovery while equipped. Or even an upgradable treasure item to use as the Caphras Journal to give us more beneficial stats for lifeskills.
GM Polly
Black Desert Mobile has some interesting treasure items for life skills, I hope we get a lifeskill treasure item soon 🥲.
GM Polly
So, you hit PEN Manos Ring recently, what's next?
Garnier
PEN earrings! Currently 19 fails on my first earring, but every click is one click closer. I'm not really needing them since I'm capped on mastery without them, but it's been a goal of mine since I started to have full PEN Manos accessories. So we keep goin' 😎.

GM Polly
I was always too afraid to tap Manos, but at least it is easier now 🤭.
GM Polly
What do you think will be the next thing to spice up life skill itemization? Maybe cups for accessories, or reform stones for alchemy stones? Or maybe something totally new?
Garnier
Yup! Exactly that, I've brought this up several times: cups for life skill accessories and reform stones, maybe even caphras levels for tools and clothes. A 3-set or 5-set affect would be cool too. I think a lot of people value the minus cooking time during some events a lot, so it'd be nice if that could be part of a complete set.
GM Polly
Ah yea cooking time reduction is always nice for when you have mastery gear equipped. Caphras is an interesting idea i hadn't though of before 🤯.
GM Polly
Well, Garnier, do you have any last words you'd like to add?
Garnier
I love the quality of life updates, I hope life skills get some love in the future 👍.
GM Polly
Thank you for your time, Garnier!
A big thank you to everyone who enjoyed reading the interview,
