Greetings, Adventurers!

Today we feature a legendary adventurer from Europe!

GM Polly here! In August, we revealed that we would be starting a new series, one where we explore various aspects of the game and interview adventurers who have achieved spectacular results in these areas. Last time, we covered an adventurer with one of the highest playtime, Huma Dragonbane. Today, we bring you the very next episode! Today's interviewee is someone who excels in a very particular field: LIFE SKILLING!

GM Polly

So, you are here because you have amassed the most Life Fame in all of EU with a score of 15,900 😮. Would you care to introduce yourself?

Whiten

Hello, I am Whiten and honestly I didn't know that I have the most life fame in all EU, thanks for having me!

GM Polly

It is nice to meet you! Now then, when you first started playing Black Desert, what was the first lifeskill you tried?

Whiten

The first lifeskill that i've got into is cooking and everything that is related to cooking like gathering and processing.

GM Polly

Oh, interesting, my first life skill was fishing, I used to take my super slow rowboat out for hours far away. There was just something peaceful and fulfilling about it.

Whiten

Haha, once, I took a raft and tried to go to Port Ratt and ended up swimming there because my raft got destroyed (when there was a Port Ratt xD).

GM Polly

Oof swimming to Port Ratt 😳

GM Polly

Do you consider yourself a life-skiller only? What other areas of the game interest you? PVP?

Whiten

To be honest, When I first started, I didn't really life skill, I used to just explore the beautiful world of BDO (PVE) until one of my friends decided to create a Life skilling guild and asked for my help. I cannot really PVP due to my latency.

GM Polly

Are you still in that same guild today? Would you like give a shout out to that guild or your current one?

Whiten

Yes, I am still in the same guild to this day, the name of the guild is Life; I was one of the founders.

GM Polly

Ah! A vert apt name indeed for a life skilling guild!

GM Polly

Of all the life skills, which is your favorite? Has it always been your favorite?

Whiten

I would say cooking and alchemy because those life skills count as core life skills, which are then built upon by others like processing and gathering.

GM Polly

Do you enjoy cooking in real life as well?

Whiten

I do enjoy cooking in real life too for my family, I like experimenting with different dishes and improving them, and also surprising my husband.

GM Polly

Okay, okay, well what about your LEAST favorite life skill?

Whiten

Sailing because it's so quest intensive. I wish there were more things involved with sailing, like exploring perhaps.

GM Polly

That is true, the main allure for me are the big ships because I used to be a really big fan of the first few Pirates of the Caribbean movies 🤣.

Whiten

I am also a big fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies; I wish the sailing could be improved more so maybe we can feel like real pirates? Something maybe that gives more of a crew vibe and fleet option. That would be really cool.

GM Polly

Is there anything you would change about a particular life skill that you are passionate about?

Whiten

Maybe adding extra fun into cooking so it's not really only an AFK life skill.

GM Polly

Ah, that makes me think of cooking-themed rhythm games, that would be pretty fun I think 🤔.

Whiten

The rhythm thing sounds cool... kinda reminds me of the latest Kingdom Hearts game where you have to press buttons at the right time to get a perfect meal.

GM Polly

Indeed, cooking is indeed all about timing, after all.

GM Polly

For my final question, I ask: if you could add a single life skill to the game, what would you choose to add?

Whiten

I love knowledge hunting and exploring, maybe something like a treasure hunt/archaeology life skill where you can gain exp by exploring? or something like taking care and raising farm animals since we only have cows for farming which are pretty much just static.

GM Polly

Hmm, yea the only current benefit to exploring currently is related to knowledge I suppose, it would be interesting to see an archaeology-esque life skill... something where you are incentivised to dig in random places 😝.

Whiten

Exactly that, perhaps the treasure can give different kinds of materials for other lifeskills like truffle mushrooms (which are at 200k preorders in EU right now) or perhaps rewards to improve lifeskilling gear.
