Sorceress Lore
The lineage of black magic is rooted so deep in history that it has been passed down from books of the ancients. All the sorcerers these days are thought to be descendants of Cartian, the very first sorceress.
The evidence lies in the village of Tarif. It is said to have been founded about 300 years ago by Cartian and Allan Serbin. The Book of Cartian, which has only been passed down through the generations there, is like a guide for sorcerers, although not everything written down in the book is known. One of those things, for example, is the scythe, the weapon that only Cartian, called the Great Sorceress, employed.
In Cartian's time, there was a major territorial war between men and Cyclopes.
It is said that, when the Cyclopes, with their physical superiority and larger numbers, were about to devour the feeble humans, Cartian single-handedly drove all the Cyclopes out with her scythe. That was when the sorcerers split into several groups and each went their own way, with some remaining in Hexe Sanctuary. It is said that Cartian, who moved to Mediah and established Tarif, lived for a very long time, considerably more so than the average human being.
Just before Cartian, who appeared to be close to immortal, disappeared, she sealed all her destructive powers into the scythe.
However, it became an extremely dangerous weapon, for no one could wield its immense power.
Allan Serbin, a close friend to Cartian and Chief of Tarif, sealed this threat deep under the magical tree Nantusa Letusa.
As a result, Allan Serbin lost his body and barely survived by moving his soul to a framed painting. He has been protecting Tarif ever since.
Then a new sentence was written in the history of darkness:
"The one who wields Cartian's scythe will attain immortality."
