Friend List

Last Edited on : Nov 7, 2024, 14:41 (UTC)
The Friend List, which can be accessed by pressing the "N" key and also from the main menu (hotkey: Esc), works as a messaging feature within Black Desert.

You can add other Adventurers to your friend list via their family name, and within the same window you can chat with them.

You can see which of your friends are currently online, and also how much time has passed since they were last online if they are not. Their class icon, character level, and family & character names are displayed.

Right click on any of their names and a small window will appear with various options:

– Invite them to a party.
– Remove them from the list.
– Start a 1:1 chat with them.
– Whisper them.

A whisper is the traditional way of sending and receiving private messages between Adventurers, and uses the game's overall chat window system.

1:1 Chat

A 1:1 chat allows you to message them within the very same Friend List window, outside the traditional chat window. This feature lets you keep better track of what each one has said, and is more pleasing to the eye.

▲ Example of the 1:1 Chat interface.

You may have noticed that a blue figure appears in one of the messages above. That is a papu, a race in Black Desert's world. The 1:1 Chat interface allows the use of emojis.

▲ The use of animated emojis gives further personality to one's messages!

The latest incoming message from a friend within a 1:1 chat will appear in the bottom right part of your screen.

Friend Request

You can add new friends to your list by pressing the Add Friend button. For this, you will need to know their family name. Once the request has been sent, the receiving Adventurer will need to accept it.

The New Requests button will open the Friend Requests window, which will help you see the status of both your outgoing and incoming friend requests.

Whenever you receive a friend request, an alert icon will be displayed in the bottom right part of your screen.

Groups

When you add a friend, that person gets listed on the "Default" group, as seen in the first picture of this page.

If you want to categorize them into groups, press the Add Group button to make a new group.

▲ A group of friends you party up with to complete Atoraxxion's dungeons is a good idea!

By clicking on the three dots to the right of a group's name you can change its name or delete it.
You can change the names of the groups you make any time you want.
